Vegetable - Starting & Growing Guide
FAST TIP 1
Healthy, rich soil is the key to a successful and productive vegetable garden.
If you are unsure start with a soil test. This can give you an idea of your existing soil levels like NPK and Ph once you know you can add amendments that suits your soils needs including composts, and fertilizers.
FAST TIP 2
Fruit bearing vegetables, need sun, and a lot of it.
Ideally, you want a site with at least 8 hours of direct sun per day. In less light, you can still grow edibles that are mainly leafy crops and herbs.
FAST TIP 3
Do your best to keep up with weeding, watering and feeding of your vegetable garden.
Weeds rob everything you garden needs. Light, water and nutrients. Pick them when they are small and easy to handle. Newly planted veggie gardens will need ample water for the most part in order that seeds will germinate. Food is essential. Know what kind of feeding your plants need and ensure they get it for bumper crops.
FAST TIP 4
Consider organic fertilizer.
Not only does it not include the chemical component, but for some vegetables, too much fertilizer can cause plants to grow too leafy without producing much fruit. Organic fertilizer will release slowly into the soil and break down enough to feed most plants while they are actively growing.
