A Breath of Spring Outdoor Container - Workshop

Are you ready to feel the excitement of bringing on spring? Then let's get gardening!


The fresh faces of pansies bring hope of a new growing season, while the softness of pussywillow, the whimsy of ivy, mini daffodils, herbs, and a surprise bulb for summer show all come together to make this container a winner.

The Society's horticulturist, Kath Smyth, will show you how to make your container look lovely, share information about the plants, and teach you how to keep your container looking great long into the growing season.

Get creative at greengate Garden Centres during this fun and colourful Paint-A-Gnome Workshop! Choose from 1 of 10 unique cement gnomes when you register, then bring it to life with paint, personality, and a splash of imagination.

This 2.5-hour hands-on workshop includes all painting supplies, optional guidance from Mama Gnome herself, and plenty of space to be as bold, detailed, or quirky as you want. Think sports team colours, wizard hats, beach vibes, anything goes!

Prairie Gardener's Go-To for Pollinators Workshop

The Prairie Gardener's Go-To for Pollinators Workshop & Book Event

Pollinators are in serious decline, and gardeners can play an important role in helping them. By planting a variety of flowering plants with different shapes, colours, and fragrances, we can provide the pollen and nectar these essential insects need.


In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create a container designed to attract and support pollinators while adding beauty to the garden.


What You'll Learn:

• Who our pollinators are and what they need in a garden

• Types of containers, growing medium, and amendments

• The best flowering plants to attract pollinators

• Techniques for transplanting seedlings into containers

• How to care for your container

Plant up your own pollinator-friendly container to take home, plus receive a copy of either The Prairie Gardeners Go-To for Perennials or Small Spaces.


Proceeds from this workshop will be donated to the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife in our province.
