We have something for gardeners of all skill and interest levels
The Calgary Horticultural Society is a charity dedicated to cultivating Calgary’s gardening comm- unity. A network of more than 164 community gardens and 4,000 members makes us one of largest and most active gardening organizations.
From our office just off Macleod Trail, our devoted staff works year-round to develop and deliver quality educational programs that help local gardeners meet the challenges of Calgary’s unique Zone 3 microclimate.
We offer expert educational speakers and hands- on workshops, host plant shares, arrange garden tours, develop gardening resources such as the ones on this website and nurture a network of more than 164 community gardens through our Community Gardens program.
With Calgary’s quirky gardening conditions it is not surprising that the Calgary Horticultural Society is Canada’s oldest, largest and most active gardening group – newer gardeners welcome the inspiration and encouragement that more experienced members enthusiastically share.
Whether you are new to gardening or are more experienced, the Society can help you garden more successfully in the Calgary area. Membership in Calgary’s oldest continuously operating Society is very affordable (individual memberships are only $45/year) and we offer numerous member benefits. Corporate and affiliate memberships are also available with additional benefits.
Since 1908, the Society has planned events to educate, promote, and encourage gardening in the Calgary area. We do that by offering a variety of programs, workshops, bus tours and events throughout the year. From our monthly speakers to our annual Garden Show, Plant Share and Garden Competition, we have something for gardeners of all skill and interest levels. We invite you to find out more and come grow with us!
greengate is the official garden centre of the Calgary Horticultural Society, as such we offer members a 12% discount with a further 3% of your purchase paid back directly to The CHS to support gardening endeavours in Calgary.
